Fleeing War

Every year millions of people have to leave their home, and often their countries because of persecution of war. These people become refugees. They nearly always have to move suddenly and leave most of their possessions behind. In the move families often get separated. Many refugees are never able to return to their homes.

Most refugees seek safety in a neighbouring country , arriving in large number at a time (called a mass influx). Ofter refugees have to travel great distances to find safety and arrive at an airport or seaport far from their native land. <<more>>

In this issue, RESPECT is very proud to present an interview with Durga Lal Acharya, Country Coordinator for RESPECT Nepal. Durga is one of the few refugees who has become a strong and motivated person able to help people who are like he was, a refugee. As a former refugee he knows what the needs are and what needs to happen in order to make the refugees feel more at home in a the country to where they were forced to run. <<Interview>>
