Run for Rights

2004 will be the first year for RESPECT to participate in Winnipeg's annual "Run For Rights" marathon. The idea behind this marathon is for organizations to collect runners/ walkers/ cyclists who will take pledges for their organization. The money raised by each runner will go to their participating organization (RESPECT for example), and will be used towards human rights. The 2004 focus is Supporting Women's Rights locally and around the world. RESPECT is looking at spending their funds on postage. In addition, RESPECT hopes the funds they raise will help to lift off the project of providing computers to refugee communities. There are many things RESPECT could do with some money.

Our partner organizations include Amnesty International, LITE (Local Investment Toward Employment), No Sweat Manitoba, KAIROS, Welcome Place, and UNPAC (United Nations Platform for Action Committee Manitoba), who will also collect runners to fundraise to make a difference!

Marathons are a dedicated type of fundraiser that can be organized by anybody with determination. Perhaps you might consider this idea for a fundraiser in your own community!
