More Reflections of Refugee Sufferings
This is the second of three collections of poems written by refugee and non-refugee students.
Untitled
I could see the guns firing,
I could see them explode,
I wanted to look away,
But I couldn't.
Everything was destroyed
My hopes, my dreams, everything.
Why attack us? I did't do it!
Our town was burned - only a few
Of us got away.
Why us?
Untitled
In such a peaceful home,
that you soon would have to leave,
how would you feel?
I would feel lonely,
Leftout, not really welcome,
Hard to learn a new language,
Nice to win a mattress,
Hard to make new friends,
And hard to go to a new school.
Untitled
If I were a refugee
I would hope someone would stop the war
And someone to come and save us.
Untitled
Refugees always have a broad mind
Leaving home and living in the streets
Instead of warm cozy beds
Making up things that
Thomas Edison couldn't come up with low supplies
Always dealing with a new problem
Having only one meal a day
They are some of the nicest, caring people in the world.
That is what a refugee life is like.
If I were a refugee
If I were a refugee I would want to be at home.
If I were a refugee I would want to have money
If I were a refugee I would want to have food.
If I were a refugee I would want to be a at home of PEACE!
Untitled
To be a refugee
Means that you're not really free.
They only give you grain
And no exercise for your brains
People want to take you in
To the army so they will win.
If you're lucky you'll go back
To your house with your sack.
Untitled
If I were a refugee I would
Feel scared because
You wouldn't know what was
Going to happen to your
Family with the rebels attacking.
Untitled
If I were a refugee I would hope that the war would stop and I could go home.
I would hope that I could have all my stuff back.
I would hope that I got normal food and,
I had a home to sleep, eat, drink and live in.
I'm glad that I'm not a refugee and I hope that the war stops.
