Refugees' Sufferings: More Reflections

This is the final of three collections of poems written by refugee and non-refugee students.

Untitled

If I were a refugee my dreams would be
To sleep and stay in a warm safe place
I would wish for peace at my home country
And for food and money in this new country
I would need a good education,
And to be safe.
That’s what I would want as a refugee.

Untitled

If I were a refugee
Scared, embarrassed, and rejected
Is what I would feel
As a refugee,
Peace, love and safety
Is what I would dream.

Untitled

If I were a refugee
I would feel embarrassed, lonely,
Hungry, sad, angry, scared,
Happy to get away from war, money.

Untitled

If I were a refugee I would feel:
Sad
Angry
Scared
Disappointed
Embarrassed

Untitled

If I were a refugee my dream would be:
To help someone else with war
To go back to my country safe
For my whole family to be with me and alive.
To fit in with everyone.

Untitled

If I were a refugee my dream
Would be living with my family,
Having enough food,
For there to be peace,
Everyone is equal,
Having money,
Warm soft beds.

Untitled

If I were a refugee my dreams would be
To see my family,
To have food to eat,
And to make friends.
When war would come
I wish it would just stop
And stay that way.

If I were a refugee

Returning to where I once lived.
Eating food in a cozy house.
Feeling at home.
Unfun to be teased.
Good friends to be with.
Enormous house to live in.
Education.
That would be my dreams/feelings if I were a refugee.
